Drug and Alcohol Policy

Above all, it is essential that everyone in your workplace is safe. Drugs and alcohol can create a hazardous workplace and businesses, particularly in the transport, trades, or manufacturing industries, should have a drug and alcohol policy in place that sets out behavioural expectations and whether and how drug or alcohol testing may be facilitated, and consequences of policy breaches. Hardly any other area within health and safety and employment law has attracted so much litigation in recent years than this. This policy reflects the available scenarios for testing, sets out the correct processes and incorporates the learnings from case law. This is a must have policy! (Please note that this policy is based on urine testing as this remains the recommended testing method at present.)
